5 Ways To Reflect Christ Through Your Words

We’re in a privileged position to reflect Christ and are recognized now as blessed, chosen, His beloved, and children of God.

Does your heart find rest knowing your identity in Christ

We’re called to reflect the truth of our identity and so much of it comes through our words.

Below you’ll find 5 Ways To Reflect Christ Through Your Words.

Reflecting Jesus – Truth Talkers

As a daughter of the King, let’s be Truth Talkers now. Let the words that come out of our mouth’s be words of truth and affirmation of God’s Word.

Let your language replace lies that you tell yourself with truth instead.

You are blessed, chosen, dearly loved, forgiven, and set free by the blood of Christ! My dear sister, let’s speak this way to ourselves and to others.

Reflecting God in our Lives

It’s no longer saying “I’m a failer/screw-up/not good enough/broken”, but speaking truth instead.

I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength. (Philippines 4:13)

I am accepted. (Ephesians 1:6)

I am a new creation because of Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Truth Talkers affirm themselves with God’s truth and in turn, are able to affirm others.

Let’s build up our families, our places of work, and our communities with the truth that comes from Christ!

Reflecting Jesus – Blessing Beacons

The more you discover and understand your identity in Christ, you realize you’re a Blessing Beacon to others because of Christ in you!

We have been blessed by Christ and now called forth to share these blessings with others. What better way to be a blessing than with our words?

As Blessing Beacons, we do not fall for the traps and snares of gossip. Instead, we shine blessings of light through our speech.

Blessing Beacons offer hope, prayers, and encouragement to those they encounter. The best place to begin is at home.

Look for how God is working in other’s lives and share what you see. It will richly bless and encourage them!

If you’re not able to have a conversation with someone, pray prayers of blessings for them. This has turned into one of my favorite prayers for others.

Reflecting Jesus – Practice Praise

We shop and search for the perfect shade of lipstick, what about an extra dose of praise instead? Are our lips covered in praise?

Practicing praise is celebrating God. It’s a heart attitude that chooses to praise God.

What does practicing praise look like with our words?

It’s being diligent with thanksgiving and regular, intentional practice of praise. Some have made daily lists of praises and thanksgiving.

Have you read Ann Voscamp’s book, One Thousand Gifts? It’s fabulous in leading your heart to praise.

Our identity in Christ brings a multitude of reasons to rejoice and praise God. It takes spiritual discipline to change our thinking to seek His praise.

It’s a practice that grows.

In our family, we’re working through some grumbling and complaining attitudes. It is a bit of battle lately reminding my crew that we have much to praise God for and we are called, as children of God, to:

Fix our thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me. (Philippians 4:8b-9a)

May our words through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name! (Hebrews 13:15 ESV)

I’m pretty sure I won’t put on lipstick again without thinking about having lips of praise!

Reflecting Jesus – Grace Givers

I personally do not consider the grace that covers my life enough. We have encountered the Giver of Grace, who pulled us out of darkness into life.

He gives us an eternal home, a Son that mediates for us, a Spirit to guide and direct us, love to completely cover us, and hope for eternal glory.

Let your conversations be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone. Colossians 4:6

We are given such grace to give grace.

This Former Reigning Striver used to work so hard in my own strength. Walking forward now with a better understanding of God’s grace on my life spurs me forward out of thankfulness rather than obligation.

We are grace-filled children of God! Let’s be grace givers with our words and be a reflection of Jesus.

God’s grace is endless! It will never run dry. (Romans 5:20)

Reflecting Jesus – Words of Wisdom

We have people in our lives that ask us for guidance, direction, and our input. As daughter’s of the King, our words should reflect our reliance on God’s Word.

I love how this is addressed in James 1:5, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.”

He is our generous God that pours out wisdom and knowledge upon us.

It’s so important that the words we speak to others are imparting wisdom that aligns with God’s Word and not our own.

To better know His Word, we need to spend time in it. The bible is wisdom-filled. Need ideas on where to start? Check this out: Quiet Time with God – 5 Minutes and My Bible, Now What?

Or, better, start in the book of Proverbs – known as the wisdom book. Read a Proverb a day. There are 31 and it works perfectly for reading one a day for a month!

Reflecting the Image of God

All of this is possible because of the power of Christ in you. Our identity in Christ brings life transformation and so much of it comes through our words – what we speak to ourselves and others! Reflect Jesus with your words and shine for His glory!

Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. Ephesians 4:29b

I pray these 5 Ways to To Reflect Christ Through Your Words brings encouragement to your heart.
