Do you ever pray and just conclude that God is never celebrated enough? Have you ever had thoughts that we need to be celebrating God more?
I’ve been thinking about this so much lately.
I pray and ask God constantly for help, direction, wisdom, and guidance. Not only that, I have a mile-long prayer list of requests that I genuinely love bringing to God but again, I’m asking him for something.
Don’t get me wrong, I praise God, too. I do. It’s just that so many times lately I’ve been struck with the thought that I never celebrate God enough.
Do you know what I mean? The verse from Psalm 116:12 KJV comes to mind: What shall I render unto God for all His blessings?

Celebrating God
I remember years ago doing a bible study on one of the books of the Old Testament. It was probably a Beth Moore study and if I had to guess, I’d say it was the Psalms of Accent study – a fabulous study by the way!
Anyway, during this particular study, I was captivated by how God was celebrated through the many festivals and feasts that took place in honor of and celebrating God. There are tons of parties in the bible!
I showed up to our bible study class that next Tuesday determined to schedule a party! I thought it was a brilliant plan, let’s have a feast for the sole purpose of celebrating God!
You’ll never guess what came out of it.
Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
“We have a schedule to follow.”
“It’s a busy season of life for many of the women.”
“Was I actually serious?”
And you know what? I understood every single response.
I still do. It’s true.
Our lives do require schedules (most of the time).
Life is busy – more or less depending on the season of life we’re in.
Yes, I was 100% serious about having a party to celebrate God. And I still am!
The Intention of Celebrating God
That memory came about recently through several answered prayers. You know the prayers you take before the Lord for weeks and months on end?
A few long-term prayers were answered in various ways for either myself or for people I had been praying with or for.
The prayers were answered in miraculous ways – in pure God fashion – and we were thrilled and thankful for how everything turned out.
But it occurred to me, we spent weeks and months praying for these matters and only mere moments giving God praise.
The ratio for asking God for help and celebrating God afterward was severely slighted.
My heart desire is to sway the scales.
Celebrating God’s Goodness
I am curious, have you ever thrown a Jesus party? Or had the desire to just celebrate God’s goodness? Other than Christmas and Easter, have you ever celebrated God in the middle of the week or whenever for the sake of celebrating Jesus by throwing a celebration of sorts for Him?
How cool would that be?!
Hi, friends! RSVP to a Jesus Party! We’re feasting and celebrating all things Jesus! Bring your favorite casserole!
I think it could be a grand event! We could set the table like we do for Easter, or Thanksgiving, or Christmas and have lots of food, lots of praise, and lots of God stories.
We’d share what God has done and is doing in our lives, giving thanks for who He is, and each of our stories would spur and encourage each of us along in our faith!
We’d leave with full bellies, full hearts, and a glorious celebration of God and His goodness!
I’m pretty sure after one Jesus Party, we’d have them scheduled on a regular basis!
Bible Verses About Celebrating God’s Goodness
Yes, I realize we can’t have feasts and parties on a regular basis (or can we?) but we can certainly celebrate God’s goodness daily. He is meant to be celebrated and praised! He is most worthy of everything!
Psalm 100:5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Psalm 107:1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Paul spoke these words in Colossians 3:15b-17, And always be thankful. Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
A heart of thankfulness is a powerful way to celebrate God. Thankfulness brings us to a heart of worship.
We may not find ourselves singing psalms these days as they did in the Bible, but we can pray the Psalms in thankfulness and draw ourselves near to God. We also have powerful hymns and worship songs we can sing to the Lord each day.
It takes intention to celebrate God.
Our world is busy and spinning wildly around us. Without an awareness of giving God glory, honor, and praise, our days will go by without notice of the One who holds each day in His hands.
It’s so important we are not only making requests to God but that we are celebrating God with hearts of thankfulness as well.
Consider your scales of requests compared to giving thanks to God. Are they severely off-balance like mine?
Have you celebrated God and thanked Him today for:
- His Son?
- His mercy?
- His righteousness?
- His forgiveness?
- His goodness?
- His love?
- His protection?
- His provision?
- Your family?
- Your friendships?
- Your home?
- Your place of employment?
- Your talents?
Or consider the last prayer you prayed for days, weeks, months on end. Was God given glory for more than a moment?
These are tough questions I am asking myself.
When we develop a heart of thankfulness, we can celebrate God all throughout our days!

Celebrating God’s Faithfulness

Celebrating God Each Day
Our Good God is to be praised and celebrated each and every day! Moment by moment even. Let’s make celebrating God a holy habit!
Our lives are busy, and we have schedules to keep, but taking the time to celebrate God brings glory and honor to Him.
He is to be praised, worshipped, and celebrated! Celebrating God’s goodness and faithfulness should be a daily part of our day!
