Why is it important to read the bible every day?

Maybe you’re still on the fence about reading the bible every day and wonder why it is so important to read daily.

God has given us His sacred Word and without reading it, how can we possibly grow to know Him? When we take time each day to read the bible, we are setting aside time to be with the God of the universe – THE Maker of heaven and earth.

He tells us, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3

To know God and learn from Him requires giving Him priority in our life.

How does the Bible help us in our daily life?

So how does the bible help us daily? Is it really beneficial to us today? The short answer: ABSOLUTELY.

Whatever we are facing in life, God’s Word brings comfort, hope, and power to encourage and spur us on. The reasons to read the bible daily apply every single day!

For example, suppose you’re struggling with loneliness or anxious about something that is going on in your life. God’s Word tells us, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Or maybe you’re at a crossroads and have no idea which direction to take. God’s Word tells us, “ Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Or maybe you feel helpless and feel the walls closing in around you. God’s Word tells us, “I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. In my desperation, I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles.” Psalm 34:4-6

Power of Reading the Bible

Imagine going into your day having spent time with God by reading His Word and the confidence you’ll have knowing His Word upon your life!? There is such power in reading the bible!

I love this prayer that is also found in Psalm 119 verse 147: I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and put my hope in your words.

What if when you rise each day you spend some time with God, crying out for His help, and you put full and complete hope in what He says? How would that impact your day?

I believe it would change everything.
