May trusting God’s Word become a daily prayer of our hearts!
Years ago I heard a pastor tell the story about himself as a child being scared that a bear was going to come out of his woods in the backyard and attack him. It was nighttime and his thoughts were consumed with fear of what “could be”.
Out of fear, he called his mom to come into his bedroom and she opened the Bible to Psalm 34:7, “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.”
He said when his mom read that verse to him, he believed the words.
He said that night was the first night he began to live as if they were true.
He said in a very real sense that he became practically fearless after that night because he fully trusted God’s Word for this particular verse.
Fast forward to adulthood, and it’s not always that easy! We can take heart though because even though we know what He says is true, we can trust the Holy Spirit to continue to guide us in growing in trust of God’s Word!
Trusting God’s Word
This is just a snapshot from Psalm 119 of what we receive from Trusting God’s Word. God’s word is always true and always trustworthy. It never comes back void or empty. (Is. 55:11) As believers, we must anchor ourselves in God’s Word every day to be saturated in truth and grow closer to our Heavenly Father.
If we’re not trusting God’s Word, on what would we base life’s decisions? Do we trust ourselves more? Do we trust the opinion of others to guide and direct our lives?
The Creator of the universe has given us His living word full of His love and compassion for us and His desire for us to live a rich and abundant life through his Son, Jesus! There is nothing else on the planet more trustworthy than God’s Word.
The more we pursue the heart of God, desire to know Him more, and seek His direction and guidance, the more we grow to trust Him! It takes intention and initiative on our part though. He is always pursuing us, but we have the choice of whether or not we pursue Him.
He alone is sufficient to meet all needs!

Why is it hard to trust God?
Trust is built through faith and personal relationship. In order for us to grow stronger in faith and trusting God’s Word, we must spend time investing in God’s word and growing in our relationship with Him. The less we know someone, the harder it is to trust them.
No one compares to God though. He has a perfect track record and His love for us is incomprehensible. Trusting God’s Word is putting faith in the One that creates and sustains all life. As we grow in relationship with Him, we will see how trustworthy He truly is and how He daily invites us to trust Him more and more.

Blessings of Trusting God
I want to share two promises and blessings from trusting God’s Word that He tells us.
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
We are promised deep roots grounded in the Lord, bearing fruit, and without fear of its surroundings. How incredible! Philippians tells us we receive the peace of God that is beyond our understanding!
Trusting God’s Word brings powerful blessings when we rely upon Him!
