Hi! I’m Erin!
I’m a wife, mom, writer, and a woman who loves God’s Word and knows how desperately I need it.
I started Raise Your Sword in 2019 from a conviction that still sits at the heart of everything I write:
God’s Word must be raised above all things.
Our feelings can be incredibly convincing. Fear can sound a lot like truth. Circumstances can make us question what we thought we knew. The voices around us can become so loud that, before we realize it, we’re living from what we feel, fear, see, or assume instead of what God has actually said.
I know because I’ve done it.
I’ve wrestled with fear, shame, disappointment, insecurity, defeated thinking, and the tendency to let what is happening around me determine what I believe within me.
Over and over, I’ve found myself returning to one question:
What is true?
Not what am I afraid of? Or what does this situation seem to say? Or what is everyone else saying?
What does God say is true?
That question is at the heart of Raise Your Sword.
Why Raise Your Sword?
I created this space because I want to encourage women to become deeply rooted in the truth of God’s Word, and to actually live like what He says is true.
Knowing Scripture is wonderful. Studying it matters deeply. But I don’t want truth to remain something I underline in my Bible and then forget the moment fear, disappointment, uncertainty, or real life shows up.
I want it to change the way I live.
How I think. How I respond. What I believe about God. What I believe about myself. Where I place my confidence. What I do when life doesn’t unfold the way I expected.
Because a lie doesn’t have to be true to affect our lives.
We only have to believe it.
That realization has become increasingly important to me, and it’s a large part of what I’m building here.
One passage that captures the heart of what I hope for the women who gather here is Jeremiah 17:7–8: the picture of a tree planted beside water, spreading its roots toward the river. Heat still comes. Drought still comes. But the tree remains green and continues bearing fruit because its source has not changed.
That’s how I want to live. And that’s what I want to encourage here.
Rooted. Steady. Free. Confident in God rather than controlled by circumstances.
The Gospel at the Center
One of my favorite verses is 2 Corinthians 5:21:
“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”
That verse gets me every time.
It astonishes me what Christ has accomplished for us.
I am a sinner saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Raise Your Sword exists because of Him, and my deepest hope is that everything here ultimately points back to Him.
I certainly haven’t mastered living perfectly rooted in truth.
I write because I need these reminders too.
There are days I need to confront what I’ve been believing. Sometimes I need to recognize that fear has been speaking far louder than truth. Other times I need to stop interpreting God through my circumstances and return to what I already know about His character.
I suspect I’m not the only one.
